Westminster Reference library: Charles Burney CD Presentation

  • Westminster Reference library 35 Saint Martin's Street London, England, WC2H 7HP United Kingdom (map)

Come join us in the for a presentation of our debut album: Musical Wanderlust - Charles Burney's European travels in search of harmony as well as a roundtable discussion featuring Burney Scholar Jill Webster. The event will be held at the Westminster Reference Library, Burney‘s London home.

We will be reading excerpts from `Burney’s travel diaries and have a discussion about travel during the 18th century, Burney’s life and hear all about his long European tours. Ensemble members will chat about how we have selected the pieces on our CD and our approach to marrying text and music and creating this audio adventure.

You will hear music from our upcoming album, amongst others a cantata composed by Charles Burney himself: The despairing shepherd. Never recorded and likely not performed by anyone else since the 18th century.

Pay what you can. Any donations appreciated.
