Our Story
The ensemble was formed in 1989 as the Baroque Chamber Soloists. In 2001 we changed our name to Apollo's Cabinet. The name was inspired by a collection of diverse British vocal music published in 1758 in Liverpool, England. Apollo was the Greek god of Music, Poetry, Medicine and the Sun, who, according to legend, gave the gift of music to the first woman, Pandora. The ensemble honors Apollo's gift of music to the world with its name and draws its musical inspiration from Apollo's figurative and overflowing "cabinet". We are dedicated to finding and presenting chamber music written around, but not limited to, the Baroque period.
Apollo's Cabinet is proud to be one of the founding members of the Chamber Music Network.
